PVC coil mat
« on: January 08, 2012, 03:49:52 PM »
I seen a floor mat made out of these stuff, it looks just like miners moss, but it has a solid backing.
Not sure if it's cheaper than miners moss, but with the solid backing it will work like a cross between carpet and miners moss.

She's not sure.....Walmart or Can. tire? One is blue, about 20" x 30", the other is charcoal/black, about 30" x 40". May not be tight enough weave, tho.

I recently bought a 3 foot of that PVC coil mat. I posted pics of it in the miners moss poll thread, but doesn't hurt to post them again here. I found that they are Chinese brand and have two colors, Blue like what  idled posted pic and charcoal/black colored one in a Mats Store. Though they are not cheap but they are good  Miners Moss substitute. I couldn't find Miners Moss locally no matter how long I searched . And yes they have a backing so no need to Ribbed Matting under them. I bought them for my "Popandson" sluice box that I am  building. The difficult part is finding the Ribbed Mats.

I thought the pics I attached are not that of a good quality , so here are newer larger ones. These floor mats are cheaper than the Miners Moss of course. But only using them will prove their catching mechanism effectiveness and easy cleanup. Will report on that when I finish my new sluice build.
