Has anyone ever panned up at 79 Creek beside stave lake? Its about 20 min up a dirt road just north of the Stave Dam in Mission. I've been up there a few times for some fun small scale panning. Not too much gold, but the odd tiny picker or two.

Would love to hear other people's stories and possible other good panning locations in the area.

I've been in the area not for panning however.  It is claimed up with mineral claims so be careful your not jumping.  The area i'm going to look at tomorrow in is across the lake down sylvester road.  Don't know if anything is there but taking the kids out for some fun and fresh air.

Yes, I met the guy that has the 2 mineral claims at the bridge there on 79, he doesn't care who pans on those claims so go for it. He's only after the hardrock from what I have gathered. Dave, you  know where to pan on that creek just as well as anybody else does.

So i went to lost creek 2 weekends ago.  Didnt get whole lot done with two kids and a 1k walk in but it was a great time there were a few flakes that we found which is always nice.  Thinking back shoild hqve moved further down the creek.  Hit me up if you want to know the location.

The wied part was the flakes were still on the top layer and hadnt had a chance to settle yet as the further down i got which wasnt far it disappeared

Residnt, so you had gone panning on the East side of Stave lake? I had prospected Lost creek as well and by the sounds of it the gate is still there which forces you to walk a kilometer or so to the creek's edge. Nice to hear that you got some gold off of the surface, probably layed in the last big storm ehhh.

Yes I believe you gave me the directions Wink.  I wish I knew how to get the key to that gate as 3 trucks passes us on our walk.  The walk down was great, back up was a bit tougher.

Hi, I'm new to the prospector way of life but would love to get out and do some panning. I'm local in maple ridge and would love to take my son along on a Saturday trip. Next time you go out if you don't mind some company give me a shout.

You can get a key to just about any gate in BC if you know who to ask. Fortunately I have a list of who to ask:
