Hi everyone --must say  -very nice site with a lot of information !!!!!

I,m from the Digby area and i,m new to this hobby.I,m very excited to get started but being a newb i,m kinda lost-obviously.
I,ve done a lot of follow up reading on geology / history  of mining here. Most of the strikes have been to the southeastern part of the provincein the GOLDENVILLE FORMATION of the MEGUMA TERRANE.
However this formation also extends to the sou, western portion of the province as well and have seen these rock formations in the area as well.

There is no history of gold finds to be found from here but it is said that the formation extending here is of  the gold bearing type.

Is this worth a serious look?

ANY INFO  IS GOOD INFO  TO ME  AS WELL AS OPINIONS

Welcome Aqua_9

Best place to start is in your local library for books of the nature.  I'm sure they have quite a few.... if not, maybe a bit bigger library in other neighboring communities.  The whole southern half of the province is gold-bearing.

Hope this helps.

Somebody said that it couldn't be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That maybe it couldn't but he wouldn't be one
Who'd say so until he had tried.

Welcome to the site,
With the info you are looking for, when all else fails go to the old watering holes in the area of interest and buy an old man a beer and see if he has any info. Seems strange i know but them O'L boys sometimes have some good info.

There is no history of gold being found here at all--so chances of findinbg someone who has info is slim. But all the indications from the geological stand point indicates that gold should be here .It is noted also in writings that the area is of the gold bearing geology.
I firmly believe that no one has given the area a try --maybe i,m deluded--dunno.
Historicaly the area has been a fishing / forestry region.
1 problem i see is that there is not a lot of rivers  /big streams.... is that a problem ?
Is there gold in small streams?

I,m in need of info from experience people.

hmmmm well yes there is gold in some small streams however, I am too new at this myself and do not want to give you bad info. Try posting a thread in the "General gold prospecting "link in the main forum. There is lots of guys on here that are willing to help a guy out or at least point you in the right direction.          Frank n Beans

Hey Aqua_9,

I'm in NS. Where do you live? I've been all over the Province for the last 20+ years and have found quite a bit of gold.
If you tell me where you live I can look in my literature/maps I've collected over the years and maybe find a place close-by to you that you can try.

HEY THERE !!!

I,m in the Annapolis Royal area and have studied the MEGUMA TERRANE maps and the GOLDENVILLE FORMATION.
This formation takes in  a small area of  ANNAOPLIS COUNTY on the edge of Digby County and runs down the nor ,western edge of the county into Yarmouth county..

but i,m sure you already know this...i,d really like any info you give for sure,,, this area i,m real intersted in as its not been mined to my knowledge other than a couple smal areas close to Yarmouth.

Any info you can give me to get started would be most welcome ....I am  fortunate to have a lot of spare time to try this out...

Okay, Annapolis Royal! Are you looking for Placer gold or hard-rock gold (in other words do you want to look for gold in rivers/streams or in bedrock outcrops)?
Let me know this and I will get back to you with some possible places.

Here's a good place to start. It doesn't show "X" marks the spot but it does give areas of "potential" for Southwestern NS.
