Does anyone know if (or where to to get a) there is a acid test kit for Platinum ?

...not that this is quite your answer, but hardrock PGE prospectors use a substance called DIMETHYLGLYOXIME.  Mix a small amount with some GOB/DROOL/SALIVA, and smear it on your rock sample.  If it turns red after a bit, the sample contains NICKEL, which, in the mafic intrusions around here, would mean that PGEs are also in the sample...GUARANTEED.  The old "indicator-mineral" thing...
It's a fine white powder, comes in little bags.  Pull it out at the campsite, at night, for a joke, tell everyone it's your personal supply of "dummy-dust"...guaranteed tomfoolery.
