Spiral Panner Plans??
« on: December 22, 2008, 11:48:29 PM »
Does anyone have any plans or ideas for building a spiral panning machine?

Any ideas on improving the standard spiral panner?

Gold Digger,

There was a article in a early 90s GPAA magazine on how to build a spiral panner, I had a gentleman on the GPAA forum email me that article, the only part that is hard to find is the pan, making one is probably not an option, the article say that you need to buy a replacement pan for that part of the build, other then having to buy the pan the rest you could do rather cheaply, I have not found a source for a replacement pan as of yet to determine what the total cost would be.

I just checked and the download-able plan is the same article.

The one I built used a replacement gold wheel ordered from the gold prospectors mag and was very reasonably priced, the rest was a Ford Taurus wiper motor, had in the scrap pile and an aluminum checker plate with PVC pipe parts stand and adjustable legs, a bearing and floor cleaner belt and some tie straps.
I've yet to test it but it should be fine the wheel rotates a 12 to 14 RPM on low speed which should be perfect.
Pictures to follow if there's interest, OK I know there is so here's some PICS

Hi, guys...when you say you uploaded to the "download page"...for us who don't know where that is and don't see a "TAB" for it up higher on the page, could you give us a wee hint?   :-\

Thanks!
