Hullo, what is this?
« on: May 12, 2010, 12:16:45 AM »
Just went down to the North Sask to practice  and wound up finding more than I thought I would.  Few traces of flour gold were neat and a pleasant suprise  <-yahoo_>, but the biggest things found were two diffrent bits that were in the black sands.  One was a little tigers eye, but the other has me scratching my head.

The odd one is a fair sized nugget, about 1.5 cm long and .75 cm wide at it's thickest part. It's metallic, sort of a dull grey colour.  Rather hard as I couldn't scratch it let alone dent it.  To light to be lead, I actually dug out an old light weight kitchen scale and found it's appox 2g in weight.  It's mostly smooth with one small area that is much rougher, like a bit broke off.  Not the first clue what it could be.

I'll have to review my miniatures picture taking techniques but I will see what I can do.
