A tribute to my friend who I knew for 31 years
« on: December 24, 2019, 01:10:11 PM »
Goodbye My Friend

Remembering one of our talks on Cayoosh Creek
Once again I was right, but I will not let it leak
Began to realize these strange happenings in the distant past
But, I honestly did not think it would ever possibly last
I recall that your very first prospecting trip was to Kanaka Bar
Every piece of gold you found lit your eyes up like a bright star
Working that pan like an eager all-pro seasoned vet
I knew you would get enough gold to make Abby’s ring just yet
Lillooet trips were the most interesting ones I have to admit
Late night panning to bears to cougars to your .36 gram bit
I will never forget about our 16 gold claim trips that we went on
As there will be no more with you, since you are now gone
Many family and friends are sad, since your passing away
One wrong decision made you leave us all on that horrible day
Leaving your three children and girlfriend behind I know hurts you the most
It was clear they meant the world to you, as you would always politely boast
Very outspoken and hard working as well
Every gold panning adventure it was so easy to tell
Really going to miss you, as I give a tip of my pan to you and our friendship

Some legendary adventures Chris, and a beautiful tribute. May Robbie find lots of gold wherever he is : )

Chris,

Each and every one of us have or will share a loss like this.  I nearly lost a buddy of almost 65 years two summers ago.  He was able to to visit me in Alaska this past summer and it was a good ending to what could have been so very bad.

I am certain that your buddy would have wanted you to keep on doing the things you shared together - as do all of us.
