1:16 - is a real high point in an otherwise typically styled home travel movie from the late 1950s.   <~ShOcK~>

Even more so  realizing the "Gold Pan" used, the level of panning experience of the couple and the brief time available to get those 'mineral samples'.

It looked to be two full socks and no flour or very small pieces - that I noticed, anyway  -  <-shock_>

I'd be tough as nails for a chance at big gold as well....   pretty hard to go all-in for flour.... we all still need to get to our day jobs..haha.

Hi.Back in the 1970s My father ,Uncle and younger brother did that trip by river boat.Took them 8 weeks. In And out.Dad had to have 2 replacement outboard jet engines flown in .They hiked to the top of Victoria falls and then started back. They rescued 3  canoers and got them home alive. They all returned with heads intack. If my memory serves the only Humanoids they encountered were folks trying to do the trip by canoe and totally unprepared for such a journey. One of the canoe guys only had 2lbs of beef jerky to make a 3000 mile trip.Dad spent 5 years planning that trip.He had fuel and food caches installed along the way and still had a tough time. The Moral of my story???????????? is it is not a walk  in the park.Just saying.Luck,Mcbain.
I started out with nothing Istill have most of it.

Great share, @ComputerTechnician.

If their massive piles of hand-shovelled, washed rocks are any indication those old timers who pulled 7 day weeks for months on end despite likely injuries, blisters, numb hands and feet, boots with soles worn through to bare feet, eaten alive by bugs, and near starvation at times were as tough as nails!

@McBain - epic story about your Dad!
