Thanks for letting me know
that's interesting  , I did think Canadian health  card should work everywhere in Canada , right  makes  sense
Yukon is part of Canada not states
This is for Ontario residents only ?
What's the way around this  then     <-thinking->
I can register in Edmonton ,if this is going to work better for  me

Maybe you guys can find an old school bus to live in.😄

haha.

You caught what I was thinking. "It's been almost 30 years since Christopher McCandless died hungry and alone in an abandoned bus in the Alaskan wilderness"

BTW
now my wife is telling even here in Ontario you have to pay 45  bucks for ambulance service if you are Ontario resident . if not $240
It looks like I need private insurance for emergency in Yukon

Hey CT,

Not likely. You insure against losses you can't afford . A rare $240 loss seems hardly worth insuring against. Remember the insurance company expects to make a profit on the policy - you have to be considerably unlucky to beat them at their own game. Save the premium over the years - ie, self-insure - and you'll very likely come out well ahead.

You need to go into a bank, travel agency  or into your insurance company(for your home /auto etc) ...ask for an out of province travel insurance policy ..tell them your going from Ontario to the Yukon/NWT (for 2 months)remote back country exploring.. Request a policy that will cover you for everything OHIP won't....stuff like air ambulance...ambulances...emergency/replacement dental??? .

I mean(heaven forbid/i really hate talking like this sorry) but  if a Yukon bear rips your jaw off  and you survive ,or a very serious  highway car accident in Yukon knocks all your teeth out and ya need reconstructive facial & jaw surgery /and all teeth replaced? extremely costly stuff to replace teeth ,it's NOT covered by OHIP ...

Air ambulance rides? well. say you got injured badly"critical" ,BUT we all  managed to drive you to the hospital in Dawson City.....your OHIP card will cover some of the stuff as long as you're in the Dawson City hospital...BUT....if the hospital in Dawson City says , he's in way too  bad of shape we got to airlift(air ambulance) him from Dawson City down to the  hospital in Whitehorse ....air ambulance is big $$$  OHIP won't pay for that..Then when you get to Whitehorse hospital  by air ambulance , maybe they'll decide we need to send  him  down  to VANCOUVER BC BY AIR AMBULANCE??? then "some day" maybe the only way to get you back home to Ontario is in a hospital bed by medical flight Vancouver to Ontario....

It's really out of your control right?,you might not even be awake(in a coma) to know what's going on ...  but the $$$ would  be major for those medical air flights ...again not covered, you'll pay for all the air ambulance bills!

Also, if ya got any "pre-existing medial issues..you need to get a policy that will cover you for that..otherwise? yup, they (the insurance company) will screw you over, and make you pay ....

Again ,read the fine print"Exclusions" of the policy before ya buy it ... ..you're at the mercy of those insurance companies...

2 years military training scares the crap out of me.That in itself is enough to get you dead.Did the army send you out onyour own?Did they teach you how to use a  Flint and steel and light a fire in the worst conditions?Of course not. They taught you to obey orders no matter what.Run to the top of that mountain. They did not teach you how to come down,so you did not come down. You sit there and die.Or you get of your butt and learn how to survive. If you did that you are no longer in the army and may have a chance at survival.Just saying,Luck Mcbain.
I started out with nothing Istill have most of it.
