Is quad classified as Machine Assisted?
« on: June 26, 2019, 10:50:55 AM »
Is transporting paydirt via dump trailer attached to a quad classified as Machine Assisted? Canadian Tire has a sale on a dump trailer that tows behind a quad for $299. It holds about a 1/3 yard give or take and was thinking how much easier it would be than carrying buckets to the highbanker

If it is the CT trailer that I have, you will get about 2 loads into it before it is kaput.  They don't handle the weight very well.

I would tend to think that if you hand shovel into the trailer and then hand shovel into the wash plant that you would be okay, but then you never know as all of the inspectors tend to take their own bend on things.

The trailer wouldn't be the issue, the quad would. No motorized equipment allowed within the boundaries of the watercourse (between the high water marks) with the exception of a 1.5" water pump. If you were found out not only would the MTO freak out but the DFO and MOE would probably rip you a new one as well. But as with everything, it's only illegal if you get caught...lol. I just use a wheelbarrow, dirty rocks to the washer, clean rocks back in the hole

Hi.Guys.A little humour on my part.Remember Star Trek,(beam me up Scottie)Well the technology is not that far off.Damn close,Wonder how the inspectors will deal with that ?they are always 10 -15 years behind the times.Lets rethink that and say closer to a 100.You simply take your smart phone and point it.Material moved, classified processed and refined.I would consider that hand mining. The goverment would try to say mechanical because they are years behind.Any takers on that ?Luck Mcbain.
I started out with nothing Istill have most of it.

Well McBain, that is one app that I would want on my iPhone when it is available, but it would take some of the fun out of prospecting.  As for the inspectors, when they look at a "hand operation", all they might say is "that's not a pan and shovel" or they will measure distance from the high water mark ... and you are busted.
