Poncho - here is some more on that  Aluminum Oxide with Chromium.  Clear and red = Ruby, Otherwise Sapphire or, in non-gemstone quality Corundum (that's right, the 'stuff' of grinding wheels.

https://www.gemdat.org/gem-3473.html

All of it is Mohs hardness of 9 - which is really, really hard so that seems to be a Jim Dandy 'scratch set' you have.

hey poncho,

your only corundum is  when to buy a rock cutting saw,and a small rock tumbler etc.. ;D

"Poncho's jewellery shop".... has a nice ring to it  hmmm..

Here's  an  example.:
1/4 pound  selling for $25.00 us dollars($33.68 Canadian), and take note of how many they sold.

Of course if ya started making necklaces out of it ,earnings etc...much more $$.

what 's the old saying '"money can't buy ya love?"...unless ya got red quartz...

In the eye of the beholder ,this is why people buy it...
(1 small piece tumbled and polished  for $11.99 +25 shipping)

https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/635814515/tumbled-fire-quartz?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=tumbled+red+quartz&ref=sr_gallery-1-25&frs=1

Hematoid Quartz contains both the amplification properties of Quartz with the balance and stability of Hematite. It is a highly energetic piece that can assist not only in removing negativity but also transforming and transmuting this energy into a positive and pure Universal light of love.
