First Prospecting Trip Of 2019!

Finally got the chance to get out and do some serious prospecting after a long winter stretch. The weather was great this past week-end and we took full advantage of it. Still a little snow on the ground but the ground wasn't frozen.

We classified 12 buckets down to 1/4" and a couple of buckets of unclassified material(too tired to classify any more) to run through the high-banker.

The pump gave us a few problems and we lost about an hour from our production. Used regular gas instead of 91 supreme. These small pumps don't work great on regular gas.

We dug a couple of nice holes, and test panned all the way down. The gold stopped at the water mark in the above photo, and we continued on in a new hole, once again sampling as we went. All in all, we did 25 test pans. While this sampling is time consuming, it saves digging a whole lot of ground with no gold in it, and we sure didn't want that.

All in all it was a great day on one of our placer claims, and we are looking forward to another trip next week.

Special thanks to McBain for keeping me advised on the weather and conditions at my claims.

These postings are doing wonders for inspiring the still snowbound Canadians waiting for the snow to go away (or at least the ground to thaw). You and McBain are welcome to post as many of these as you feel like :)

Nice to see you are out getting some gold. I'm sure most of my claim is under 2 ft of snow. Like to see a picture of that gold on a weigh scale.

Changing the topic a bit here.Suave is right about the gas.Most of the time I just run the cheap stuff as I am using it up fast.Next keep your gas  out of the sun.cover it any way you can.Sunlight destroys gas.Next at the end of the season take the time to drain your fuel tank and the carb on your pump.Draining the carb is the big thing most folks do not do.Simply crack the nut on the bottom of the bowl a few turns and let it drain.That way you do not have to come see me or some other tech.Just saying Luck Mcbain.

I am surprised the octane of the gas mattered on your pump.  I use premium gas on all of my small motors soly to stay away from ethanol, because that attracts moisture which a small carb. cannot handle.  Draining the carb would really help.   Love the pictures and nice pan.  Thanks for sharing.

For those who hadn't seen this anywhere before - ethanol (alcohol) free gasoline locations.

The caution I want to make is that this listing does NOT differentiate between Automobile, Aviation and Marine targeted fuels.  If the list shows an airport - aviation type.   A marina - DUHhhhhh!   <-dont~know->

Other than that a good, customer provided list.   {cool^sign}

That sure is pretty gold.

It'll be a while before I can get to the gold, as the ground is still frozen and covered in snow in the mountains where I chase it.

Thanks for the pictures to fire the imagination until I can get back out there.

All the best,

Lanny
