The Nahanni Valley NWT and the Lost Mcleod Mine
« on: March 13, 2019, 09:06:53 AM »
Hi there,
Does anyone know about this legendary lost mine or gone searching for gold in the Nahanni Valley.
Having done some research, I'm pretty sure there's gold there, but wondered if anyone has tried prospecting there in recent years.
B

Apart from it being a national park, the number of people that have been beheaded looking for such a mine would deter me.

Matter o fact I worked with a guy 25 years ago who did 2tours  in Vietnam in Ray edso on the hiway , he lived up there for a few years, there was a prospectors up there that had 2 cabins , he panned some gold then made his way out, he did tell me were the gold was on the river was it upper or was it lower , makes for an interesting story for sure.

I love a good treasure story, but this one seems to have its share of logical flaws.  There is gold up there.  I talked to a fellow years ago who prospected for gold in NWT for many years, until he successfully found a hard rock mine with VG.  He loved being young and poor more than old and rich.  I guess if you asked the the guys who lost their heads if it was better before or after, they would have the same opinion.
