List of minerals to watch for in the field ?
« on: March 11, 2019, 08:43:43 PM »
I picked up an illustrated rock and mineral guide and it covers 445 minerals with illustrations. Is there a list of minerals that gold likes to play with so I can cut down on reading all 585 pages ?

Evening David,

Research to find the minerals that are found in the region you will be working.

Then decide, from that list that you made, the minerals you would be interested in finding.

Then familiarize yourself with the characteristics of those minerals.

Then, while scouting around in the areas you are interested in, just keep an eye out for the color, shape, Specific Gravity, hardness, etc of what you are looking for.

When you do find something of interest let everyone know.

Simply stated, work from a position of knowledge.

If something is found that is unusual, do some more research in that book, or on the internet, and decide just what you have found.  We all do that all the time.
