Posting pictures of specimens

I have some amazing pictures of gold specimens taken at a rock and mineral show. I'm wondering if it is legal to post them with out the owners permission?

If you are posting >your< pictures, taken in a public setting (like a rock and gem show which was open to the general public) then the pictures are yours to do with as you wish.  Yes, the owner owns the specimens (on public display) but that owner doesn't own >your< pictures.

At least that is the way I see it.    <-dont~know->

Is there a more knowledgeable, legally trained Canadian member with other thoughts?   <-thinking->

Hi.Joe is correct. If it is a public showing and no requests or photo bans were put up then it is open to the public. If it makes you feel better you do not have to post names or places, just the pics.Luck,Mcbain.

Your pictures are open to copyright but Lake Louise is not. In this case Lake Louise is the items on display. It is not even a case of "fair use". It is in good taste to ask, or tell and to ID the item and event. Have you not gone to an event and then had your photo  taken and been offer the opportunity to buy it?
