Beach mining What system would you use?
« on: September 30, 2017, 03:29:11 PM »
(for the purpose of this question lets assume I am working tidal concentrated placer of black and ruby sand on and around the surface)

I have been looking at potential sluice designs for capturing 100 mesh gold and smaller on the beaches.

The Popandson sluice bed seems to make sense for me.

What I am undecided on is the actual system to use.

- Ground sluicing.
- Shovel loaded highbanker / beach box.
- 3" Hydroforce Nozzle fed system.

If maximum throughput is the objective what route would you go down?

For example what are the requirements in terms of sluice box size and water flow to handle dumping a wheel barrow of black sand into the box. I dont intend on doing this but Im interested to know in your opinion what are the requirements of such a load introduced into the box with the ultimate objective of capturing 100 mesh gold and smaller.

I understand the dredge method makes for a constant feed with a good water to material ratio.

Ground sluicing seems to make more sense to me providing the placer permits it of-course.

Also knowing good concentrations under the mean high tide do not hang around my logic is to capitalize on the concentrations while they are in place . Meaning high volume throughput takes priority over the advantages of the constant regulated feed of a hydro force.

The key point is the sluice should work in all beach environments, with max through put as the objective.

What system would you use? Three man team.

This is a design I was playing with.. that's all it was  <-laugh->  Simply the idea was to try and wash  similar size particles together decreasing in size..

Hi.Emc. Watch all the youtube vids on Alaska beach mining. Most have switched to gold hog matts and use Hydro force nozzles. The recovery is amazing. The hydro force just takes the work out of it.No shovels or buckets to pack.Worth the watch.Luck Mcbain.
I started out with nothing Istill have most of it.
