Minelab ordered
« on: July 09, 2017, 05:49:54 PM »
Just ordered the new Minelab 1000.    If you have a claim (depending on where) I would be willing to give this new machine a try there.   Reviews suggest can pick up "pin pricks" of gold.
Prospecting and metal detecting by boat opens vast new opportunities.

Hey coastalguy.

Keep us updated as to how you like the new detector and if it can in fact pick up that ultra-small gold that the GoldBug 2 (up to this point), has been famous for finding. I suspect there may be a lot of GB2's appearing on Kijiji and craigslist sites if the GM1000 is as good as early reports say it is.  Time will tell.

With any detector, it will take some practice.  Sounds like a great machine.  Good luck and let us know what you think.  I look forward to pics of nuggies!

Interested in hearing if it can pick up small nuggies, especially as deep as 6 inches. I had a gold bug 2 for a few years and an at gold as well and was not impressed with them, even spending hours and hours with different size flakes and test nuggets. Good luck with the new detector!

I have both the GPX5000 and Gold Bug Pro.  I have actually found more gold with the VLF machine, but there are places where the PI is required.  Good luck with your 1000.  Sounds like an interesting detector.

I talked to a few prospectors and they love their 1000.  Hope to hear you got success.  I am headed to the gold fields next week.  I am taking the GPX5000 for the dry and a Equinox 800 for the wet.  Hopefully, there are a few nuggies that don't try too hard to hide.  ;-)
