info on old mining tags
« on: February 17, 2009, 12:47:20 PM »
I was doing some metal detecting in the coalmont/tulameen area in BC and I recovered a matching set of claim tags that appear to be copper. I would like to know more about these and when they stopped using them. I would like to also know if there is some way of researching whether they were used  or not. I am interested in knowing the story behind them as everything I find is a treasure and has a story worth hearing. I found a canadian coke bottle x2 right across the river there too and looking them up told me the bottles are about 100 years old. all sorts of little finds but the copper tags really interest me as they are a matching set (initial and final post)   any info would be welcomed as I can find nothing about them. Thank You

I don't know if this is any help to you,I have  tag #536002M  final post(#2)   Dated 1987.  The information has been scratched in with a knife?  The tag was found on my claim on Jim Kelly Creek.
