Hi all. The one thing I learned is to have stuff from the U.S. sent via the mail. Let Canada Post act as the customs broker. Otherwise it's that darned broker fee of $40 - $50. If the seller won't send via mail, and you live close to the border, you might want to get a 'maildrop' box and bring it across yourself. I have one in Blaine Wash. and it saves me countless headache when buying stuff in the U.S. Quite often I came across with my stuff and Canada Customs doesn't even ask for duties etc  <-yahoo_>

Is there any reason why a business would not want to mail an item to Canada?

Hi Dwayne, the only reason I can think of for a business not wanting to ship to Canada is having to deal with customs paperwork. I've run into this alot on ebay.... no shipping outside of U.S. If they do ship out of U.S. with say, FedEx or UPS, you will be charged a "broker fee" by the carrier of about $45 on top of any duties to Rev Canada. If you can get the shipper to ship via the postoffice, Rev Canada acts as it's own 'broker', so all you pay is duty, if any is owed. That is why I registered with a mail service in Blaine, for those shippers who won't ship via the postoffice. $10 in gas versus $45 in customs broker fees.

I buy stuff from Hong Kong all time (flashlights etc) and as long as it's under about 60 to 70 bucks they don't charge you duty. It's the shipping cost due to the size that's causing the costs to escalate.

Has anyone used the full sized sluice or highbanker yet?  I have had a Bucket Concentrator for about a year now and am very impressed.  I was just wondering how the full sized sluice did with bigger material.  I'm thinking of hooking my Gold N Sand pump to one.

Just got my concentrator, but haven't had any time to use it though. Solidly built compared to some other flimsy concentrators I have seen around. I too am looking at the highbanker.

It will probably work like this set up:
