Minelab has a new Gold/Platnium tester

This seems pretty cool.  Kind of like having your own little XRF Analyzer to confirm the karat of the jewelry that you find.  I am not sure how it works, but if it is accurate, it would be a handy tool.

Great post Chance.A lot of folks do not believe gold gold can have many different colours. And that a lot of any of the afore mentioned metals can be blended into a raw stone and actully have a small gold content.I have a old boy coming by the shop looking for different types of acids to clean his(pure gold in his mind).I have seen his stones. They are very heavy and look too be tarnished bronze in colour.I have scratched and used sand paper on his rocks and find no sign of gold.Yet he is determined that acid will turn them to bright shiny gold.I have no idea as to the mineral content. He does have something that came from a high end copper silver gold rich area.I have tried too convince him to have them analysed but he wont.I told him acid will not make gold and to try somewhere else.I could not help.Luck Mcbain.
