Holy Bananas!

Those are fantastic!

Just when I was scrolling down and thought it couldn't get any better, a boitroydal came into view.

I have some questions, I don't know what some of them are.

Is the first one malachite with azurite and gold?

There is one that almost looks like green tourmaline. In a quartz matrix? 6 th one down?

And do my eyes deceive me, or is the 10th one down like a bathtub full of large garnets? haha.

What is that delicious large black and bright white striped one? I've stared at that one for quite some time.

What about the quartz looking one, with the deep red and the pyrite? It's after the closeup of the blue kyanite.

Your stones are great! The matrixes are just as awesome as the minerals themselves!

You have a large orange colored stone with blue kyanite in it that reminds me of a small stone I have of the same orangey color. Do you know what the orangey type stone is made of?
Sorry to pepper you with questions.

I just really like rocks haha

 <-shock_>

Hey folks, glad you liked the pics. Im very lucky to live in a place with a small population and multiple mountain ranges. All you see i found within a 100 miles from my doorstep. Finally met another rockhound in the field just the other day. First one ive met in almost 5 years lol.

Mcbain: The area i collected that sample was maybe 300ft long. It goes from nothing to some small almandine garnets to some larger better colored ones. By the time you are hitting the other end the garnets get more and more black and eventually look and crumble like carbon even though they have the same shape as garnet. Im not sure exactly what to call them to tell you the truth.
It was mica shist on top of granite. I sandblasted the shist away leaving only the stones attached to the base plate. I used silica sand as a sandblasting medium.

SnowPanner: The first one i believe its malachite with azurite and arsneopyrite. Im glad i took a pic of that one before i extracted cause i did a (censored) poor job and it came home in more than one piece. 6th one down i believe to be feldspar and the green epidote. Hahaha no the area in question is not a bathtub full of garnet but rather an area larger than a football field. Its full of large mica boulders packed with almandine garnets and the ground well.... thats a picture of the ground.

Not sure which pic your looking at for the delicious black striped one... I guess i should have numbered the pics. Sorry about that. The one black and white striped one that kind of swirls toward the middle got tossed on my study pile outside and was gone by the time i got home from a hitch of work. The other is a massive boulder of what i believe to be quartz and schorl with a bunch of almandine peppered on one side. If i can ever justify buying one of those rock chainsaws im gonna turn that baby into a love seat so i chill out after a hard day of hounding that site. That red quartz one is pretty cool. Its blood red and that pyrite has the strangest color and texture. If it is pyrite then it was well on its way to becoming something else. Found that piece float and never could locate the source. The larger orange stuff with the kyanite i believe to be some sort of iron stained quartz of some kind. Any kyanite i find that doesnt come from a biotite matrix is usually super iron stained. Even that sweet chunk i found in the close up and the below picture looked like this before a bath in super iron out:

The botryoidal (hotspring calcite) i gave to a guy on another forum, hes big into minerals that glow under UV light. It glowed bright white under shortwave UV and all the feldspar crystals from that one spot show up hot pink:

Questions are always good, those are the best answers i can give as im no expert by any means. I went to college to be a butcher lol

Good luck!

I like the fossil graptolites I see as I scroll down to pictures 39 and 51. Those creatures lived in the sea up until they went extinct about 400 million years ago. You might be able to do some lapidary work with them.
