"Never give up & keep on trying," John Schnabel.
« on: June 06, 2015, 10:00:13 PM »
There are some days I'd rather leave politics in the rear view mirror and trade it all for the sweet sound of rushing water through a sluice box. This past Friday was one of those days. Talk about a golden day,,, how about a 6.7 gram gold take from a hole that was no more than 1 ft. wide, 18" in length and 8 inches in depth. As shown in the last photo, perhaps someone sat here years earlier,,, showing me the way. All I can say is that there is more to this spot than what meets the eye. Here are several photos of this Friday's gold and a pic of what I found previously to this discovery ( a partial wooden bench made by hand and a broken spade shovel blade - guessing the date to be early 1860's). "Never give up & keep on trying," John Schnabel.

God only knows why this bench was placed there. Perhaps it was as tamarackman so stated, a clean up bench area. Oddly enough, the broken shovel blade was found several feet from this bench. As the saying goes, "Why leave gold when you are in it?" To find another shovel.

I thought I'd share a photo I took this past April. It is "my Idaho winter gold." A good percentage of this gold did come from the same old bench area. An additional ounce+ was recovered during the month of May. Gold like this doesn't come often but when it does, it sure puts a smile on one's face. Throw in a few mining relics and this treasure hunt begins a new chapter. "Never give up & keep on trying."

Keeping the dreams a life ar ya😊
This is what makes us all crawl under the thick overgrown, and get sucked up by millions of Moskitoes.
Flesh ripped out from Horsflies chased by Bears, crossing ice cold creeks and get soaked wet with sweat on the head and blisters in the hands.
You are really doing a good Job here.
😁😁😁 congrats and many more of that yellow stuff.
Cheers

Kudos to you Backroad. You sound as though you've beaten the brush a time or two and I have no doubt that you'd make a fine partner as well. With that said, I think you are entitled to see some pictures of the gold that filled those above bottles. Each photo is of a different pan (*See dates on below pics) taken from the same spot, near the old bench. Pans like these don't come often and ground such as this virgin area, need to be represented well with a few minutes on the camera. Note the rusty colored oxidized gravels in the last picture. Solid as a rock and tough to penetrate,,, a true indication of virgin ground. The rewards of the "Never give up" approach.   Cheers - Randy
