Ya, deadwood it's more of a gamble then ever. Gold went from 1900 to 1200. Don't invest your future away. If you want to gamble just go to your local casino.  Im the only person I know who stays a week in Las Vegas,  and spends 40 dollars gambling..  .But the gold fever is as strong now as it was at 250 an oz.

Mining should not be a gamble - preparation and prospecting is key to know what you got before you invest.

And what safer way to invest but to invest in yourself.

To run a crew and equipment requires consistent grades over 0.1 opt, and lot of tonnage.

To run a mini mine with a couple of buddies and small equipment requires nuggets or pockets of high grades.

Hey deadwood. Was told by the gold commissioner many years ago. nobody sells their large gold to buyers for smelting.you are right take a 20 to 30% loss of the top and get nailed for taxes on top not likely.Jewllers are quite happy too pay market value for raw gold. They can make a easy1200% markup on jewerlly. and is cash and no taxes.Large mining companies might go the other way because of taxes and right offs.they have too show something.but the simple prospector keeps his mouth shut. And yes there is still plenty to be found.Because nobody tells.Even the hoffmans have a agreement with discovery not too show the real amount if they find it.Is the north played out do not think so.Luck Mcbain.

Wonder if the heartaches on Yokon Gold are true, up to Season 3 Epi 7 if I recall.
3 of the 5-6 are ready to pack it in, just not a lot of scratch up there it seems.

Ya I have to agree with you guys that there's still gold up North.  Only the cost of recovery is on the high side but what is going on in the world, I think the potential of the price going up is excellent!  Don't forget reality TV has nothing to do with reality!  It's about entertainment!
