There is a cheap alternative to the splicing tool. You use a regular press or vise with angle irons to press it into the belt. Another way of attaching is to use a heavy flat bar and pound them into the belting with a hammer. The easiest way to install the pin is to chuck it into a drill, spin it slowly and push it thru. We've done that for years on large conveyer down to little baler belts.
