A couple found an old can filled with gold coins on a trail they walked on many times.
Calif. couple find buried Gold Rush coins worth $10M

I read earlier today that the face value was about $27,000.  Even that was a small fortune back in the day.  The reporter says they plan to sell some on Amazon.  Maybe they meant Ebay.  I hope, for their sake, they do their homework as to actual potential value before they sell!

Wow... it's possible they may lose these coins!!!

the US Federal Reserve will almost certainly seize the entire collection of coins. Legally, they are the property of the Fed, as all gold was seized from the public under FDR.

ya i came across that read today wouldnt that be nice, i usually find old square head nails and found a cool old hordeshoe from granite city my luck may change this year with that find <-laugh-> <_miner_>

I just read a couple of days ago that the U.S. taxman is going after this couple for the taxes on the value of these coins. This tax rate is 46%. I think it was on an American site.
