lol, this is right up my alley.

I saw some rock crushers in another post, and they are way out of my price range.

I'm just a grassroots prospecting newbie... but I've been wondering how I could crush some rock inexpensively without losing it,

just start collecting some scrap steel and build your self a small jaw crusher...
the concept and build is very easy

heres one i built to crush rock to 1/8"- to free the placer nuggets trapped in the solid rock.
any other type of crusher was destroying the nuggets.
she is not pretty to look at but she worked great!
4" x 6" with a 1/4" stroke

Nice crushers.  Picker, I was wondering about those nuggets that your getting out of the rock are they from river rock or from wall rock?  I'd sure like to see some pics of the rocks before and after. Sometimes I feel like I spend too much time inspecting the river rocks, but am always hoping for a nice colorful specimen.
