Great tips G!! Gets a little cold here at times (NW Minnesota) and don't always get the propane torch going when I want it. Whaddya do, keep the little torch warm with body heat?

I have a small butane torch with my Every Day Care when I am in the bush, and the large butane, butane cartridge and the propane units I keep in the day pack K.

I found this to be a very handy campfire.      http://wildernessarena.com/food-water-shelter/firecraft/how-to-build-single-log-swedish-fire-torch-fire         As for fire starter I usually purchase a small box of wooden matches, open the box and pour melted wax over the matches. Once the wax hardens I have have water proof box of matches and when used to start a fire the wax burns causing a much hotter and longer lasting fire.  Several matches put together and lit make good kindling
