How do I find a claim in the East Kootenays?
« on: November 03, 2008, 12:02:08 AM »
I am new to this. I am interested in getting a claim in the East Kootenays. Kimberley,Cranbrook, Moyie area, would also be willing to go further West. I am not sure where to look or how, or who to contact. Does nayone have any ideas? Thank you in advance for any and all help.

The best advice I can give you...is if you are new to this, don't go overkill and buy all types of mining gear and lots
of claims.
Start out slow and get a feel for it  <-yes_> a lot people spend way to much money and then they get discouraged.
And then guys like us buy the sluice, highbanker, dredge etc for a bargin price  <-party->
Here is some links  :)
Mineral Titles Online
Recreational Panning Reserves
Welcome to Garrett.com <----- the best pans and I have tried many pans  <-yes_>

I like VikingSnipes reply - don't get gold fever. Personally I would read Bill Barlees book on Gold Panning in BC. Good story teller and  he gives the name of gold bearing creeks - this gives you a start point. Goto MTO (Mineral Titles Online) and learn how to use the map feature (PLACER MAPS) it will show you claims and numbers. You can look up claim number to find owners who vcan be contacted to ask for permission to pan etc. Most owners are ok with this thay are also willing to help out the new guys. Don't rush out to get a claim you may be better spend money on gold than ground. Good luck as there is lots of good ground close to you.
