Very old post.but I have that stuff all over my claim.It is a sedimentary rock.It is compacted sediment from a lake or sea bottom.It is composed of many layers.all kinds of minerals very minute but mostly iron.You can crush it but still needs to be dissolved to recover anything.Not worth the time.
